Job Purpose
- To support the Bursar in maintaining accurate financial records, processing financial transactions, monitoring school revenues and expenditures, and ensuring proper accountability for school funds in accordance with approved financial procedures.
- Key Duties and
Responsibilities
- The Assistant Bursar will:
- Assist in recording and processing school financial transactions.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
- Assist with preparation of payment vouchers, receipts and other financial documentation.
- Receive and account for authorised school payments.
- Assist with banking and reconciliation of school accounts.
- Maintain proper filing of financial documents.
- Assist in preparing financial reports and statements.
- Support monitoring of school income and expenditure.
- Assist in tracking outstanding fees and other receivables.
- Support procurement and payment processes in accordance with approved procedures.
- Assist the Bursar during internal and external audits.
- Ensure financial records are complete, accurate and properly secured.
- Maintain confidentiality of financial and personal information.
- Assist with preparation of budgets and expenditure schedules.
- Report financial discrepancies or irregularities to the Bursar.
- Perform other finance-related duties assigned by the Bursar or Head Teacher.
- Minimum Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field from a recognised institution.
- Training in computerised accounting is an advantage.
- At least 1–2 years of relevant accounting or finance
Experience
