As the Business Director for the Uganda market, you will serve as the entity's statutory Principal Officer, registered with the Insurance Regulatory Authority of Uganda (IRA). This is a dual-mandate, execution-focused leadership role: build and run the client’s Uganda business commercially - closing partnerships and driving B2B revenue and distribution - while personally carrying accountability for regulatory compliance, governance, and reporting to the IRA under the Insurance Act, 2017 and applicable microinsurance and bancassurance guidelines.
Job Qualifications
• ACII (UK), a Diploma in Insurance from the Insurance Training College / Insurance Institute of Uganda, or an equivalent qualification recognised by the IRA as meeting Principal Officer
Requirements
- MANDATORY (or demonstrable eligibility for IRA "fit and proper" approval).
- Minimum 5 years' relevant professional
Experience
- in insurance, financial services, or telecom-led distribution, including 3+ years in a managerial or leadership role.
- • Proven success closing and managing B2B partnerships (MNOs, banks, MFIs, corporates preferred).
- • Strong understanding of IRA regulatory requirements, including Principal Officer obligations and reporting.
