Job Purpose
To teach History and Political
Education
- effectively, developing students’ understanding of Uganda, Africa and the wider world, while promoting critical thinking, responsible citizenship, leadership, civic awareness and respect for diversity.
- Key Duties and
- lessons effectively.
- Develop students’ knowledge of historical events, political systems, governance and citizenship.
- Encourage critical thinking, analysis and evidence-based discussion.
- Use maps, historical sources, case studies, timelines and other relevant learning resources.
- Conduct continuous assessment, tests and examinations.
- Mark and record students’ work and provide appropriate feedback.
- Prepare students for national examinations.
- Provide remedial and enrichment activities.
- Promote responsible citizenship, leadership, integrity and respect for human rights.
- Encourage students to participate in debates, history clubs and civic activities.
- Maintain appropriate academic and departmental records.
- Participate in departmental meetings and curriculum planning.
- Support school assemblies, co-curricular activities and other assigned duties.
- Promote a safe, respectful and inclusive classroom environment.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Head Teacher.
