Amentum is seeking a Swimming Instructor to support a unique US Navy program on the island of Diego Garcia. The Swimming Instructor is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and instruction activities associated with an 82-foot-long by 63-foot-wide by 12-foot-deep swimming pool. This position ensures the safety of patrons, compliance with Navy guidelines, and delivery of high-quality swimming programs.

Working Environment

Work schedules may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours based on operational requirements.

Responsibilities
Operate and maintain the swimming pool in accordance with NAVMED P-5010-4, NAVSUPPFAC instructions, CNICINST 1710.3, and other applicable Navy instructions and manuals.
Ensure pool cleanliness, proper filtration, and water quality through regular monitoring and maintenance.
Inspect pool equipment and address any maintenance concerns or coordinate repairs in a timely manner.
Enforce all Navy and local safety guidelines, policies, and procedures to maintain a safe swimming environment for all patrons.
Plan and conduct swimming lessons for individuals or groups of varying ages and skill levels, focusing on basic swimming techniques, water safety, and skill development.
Monitor and supervise swimmers to prevent accidents and provide lifesaving interventions when necessary.
Educate pool users on proper pool safety protocols, including rules for behavior, emergency response actions, and safety equipment use.
Complete all required training and certifications necessary to perform assigned duties safely, effectively, and in compliance with applicable standards.
Administer first aid or cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)/automated external defibrillation (AED) as necessary during emergencies.
Provide exceptional customer service to patrons, addressing questions, concerns, and feedback with courtesy and professionalism.
Ensure an enjoyable and safe atmosphere for both recreational swimming and organized lessons.
Assisting in coordinating events at the pool, such as swimming competitions or training exercises, to meet customer needs.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned that are consistent with the nature and level of the position.
